Jose Maurcio Caal

AMA Owner and Head Instructor, Jose Mauricio Caal has been involved in the martial arts since he was 13 years old.  He earned a 3rd degree black belt in WTF Tae Kwon Do in his native Guatemala and later moved to the United States to pursue his martial arts studies.  He began training Muay Thai in 1998 and in 1999 also began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Straight Blast Gym black belt Luis Gutierrez.  For the past 15 years Jose has focused on nothing but his martial arts training.

He began teaching in 2004 and has since produced a variety of Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu champions who have competed in the countries top organizations such ISKA, WKA, USMTA, IKF, TBA, NAGA, Grapplers Quest, and the IBJJF among others.  Jose’s passion and love for the martial arts is unmatched and he always looks to continue building on his knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, and learning from the best.  He is the driving force behind AMA and his honest and straightforward teaching style makes his students feel that they are not simply part of a gym, they are part of a family.
